    With the release of the Fourth Edition version of Royal Assassin on April 1995, The flavortext on Royal Assassin was modified to read: Trained in the arts of stealth, the Royal Assassins choose their victims carefully, relying on timing and precision rather than brute force.
    With the release of the Eighth Edition version of Royal Assassin on July 28, 2003, The flavortext on Royal Assassin was modified to read: Trained in the arts of stealth, royal assassins choose their victims carefully, relying on timing and precision rather than brute force.
    With the release of the Magic 2010 version of Royal Assassin on July 17, 2009, 3 changes were made to the card. They include:
    • The spelltype of Royal Assassin was changed from Creature - Human Assassin to Creature — Human Assassin
    • The text on Royal Assassin was altered to say: : Destroy target tapped creature.
    • The flavortext on Royal Assassin was modified to read: Trained in the arts of stealth, royal assassins choose their victims carefully, relying on timing and precision rather than brute force.
