    With the release of the Fifth Edition version of Nightmare on March 1997, The flavortext on Nightmare was modified to read: The nightmare arises from its lair in the swamps. As the poisoned land spreads, so does the nightmare's rage and terrifying strength.
    With the release of the Sixth Edition version of Nightmare on April 27, 1999, The flavortext on Nightmare was modified to read: As the poisoned land spreads, so does the nightmare's rage and terrifying strength.
    With the release of the Seventh Edition version of Nightmare on April 2, 2001, The flavortext on Nightmare was modified to read: The thunder of its hooves beats dreams into despair.
    With the release of the Eighth Edition version of Nightmare on July 28, 2003, The flavortext on Nightmare was modified to read: The thunder of its hooves beats dreams into despair.
    With the release of the Tenth Edition version of Nightmare on July 13, 2007, 2 changes were made to the card. They include:
    • The spelltype of Nightmare was changed from Creature - Nightmare to Creature - Nightmare Horse
