Archangel was originally released on February 1997 with the release of the Visions Magic The Gathering edition. This card has since been reprinted in 5 sets, with 3 artists contributing to the various card designs.
With the release of the Portal version of Archangel on May 1, 1997, The flavortext on Archangel was removed.
With the release of the Sixth Edition version of Archangel on April 27, 1999, The flavortext on Archangel was modified to read: "My mother once told me angels sing their swords' names with each strike." —Sisay, Captain of the Weatherlight
With the release of the Starter 1999 version of Archangel on August 27, 1999, The flavortext on Archangel was removed.
