Anaconda was originally released on May 1, 1997 with the release of the Portal Magic The Gathering edition. This card has since been reprinted in 4 sets, with 3 artists contributing to the various card designs.
With the release of the Urza's Saga version of Anaconda on October 1998, The flavortext on Anaconda was modified to read: If you're smaller than the anaconda, it considers you food. If you're larger than the anaconda, it considers you a lot of food.
With the release of the Seventh Edition version of Anaconda on April 2, 2001, The flavortext on Anaconda was modified to read: You'll never find an anaconda in a swamp. It will always find you first.
With the release of the Ninth Edition version of Anaconda on July 29, 2005, The flavortext on Anaconda was modified to read: If you're smaller than the anaconda, it considers you food. If you're larger than the anaconda, it considers you a lot of food.
